EDUCATION AND TRAINING
One of the approaches we have leveraged to sustain our impact in the lives of homeless individuals and families by providing quality education and training. Our focus is to take care of their educational needs from preschool to high school. At Utopian Center, we implement a spectrum of training programs aimed at providing homeless people with the right skills, knowledge and abilities necessary to attain and maintain employment. Our programs are tailored to the specific needs of an individual. With these education and training programs, we believe that the people we serve will become self-sufficient.
DRUG REHABILITATION
Utopian Center understands that homelessness and drug abuse go hand-in-hand. Generally, drug abuse can lead to homelessness. Data from the National Coalition of the Homelessness reveals that more than 38% and 26% of homeless people are alcohol, or harmful chemicals addicts, respectively. As such, drug addiction is one of the main factors barring the homeless from living out their dreams.
Our drug rehabilitation program is tailored at helping homeless people beat their addiction after or before placing them in housing.
FAMILY COUNSELING
In most cases, traumatic experiences within low-income families trigger a greater risk of homelessness. These experiences include parental separation, domestic violence, substance abuse, job loss, and mental health issues. At Utopian Center, we are committed to ending homelessness by addressing its underlying contributing cause. We offer quality counseling services to strengthen family bonds. We target individuals and families who are at a risk of homelessness, or living in homelessness.
We have a team of extensively experienced counselors who strive to meet the emotional and psychological needs that are intricately interwoven into causing a housing crisis. Through our services, we help reunite family members by improving communication within the family unit, improving troubled relationships, building self-esteem, and addressing financial problems and mental and physical health issues.
